Get Rid of Back Acne Scars

How to Get Rid of Back Acne Scars Quickly
Back acne scars can be unsightly and painful areas of the back, where the skin stretches with just about every human movement. There are a few options for getting rid of back acne scars, though only one completely removes the scar tissue. The others work well to reduce the appearance of scars and can make scars less painful for the individual. It is important to remember that acne scars on the back are often deep, so it can take a variety of treatments to fully get rid of back acne scars.

Treatments to Get Rid of Back Acne Scars

Back acne scars are often more severe than acne scars on other parts of the body. This is mostly due to the fact that the pores on a person’s back run much deeper than any other part of the body because the skin is usually much thicker. As a result, hidden acne beneath the surface of the skin has a greater chance of becoming cystic and infected. Nodules on the back and cystic pimples can be very painful blemishes that require heavy antibiotics and strong topical treatments to overcome.

Once the severe cystic acne ruptures, it leaves behind a large and deep open cavity – a new wound that must now heal. Acne scars can be depressed, or pulled down so that they appear to be holes or craters in the skin. In individuals with back acne scars, this is often the case when the scar tissue inside the pore pulls down on all of the other tissue and forms a deep pit. Because the damage originates so deep in the skin’s layers, back acne scars are often the most difficult types of acne scars to treat.

Excision is sometimes necessary to treat back acne scars. This is a surgical procedure in which a doctor completely removes the acne scar, taking out all of the scar tissue deep within the pore. While this does leave a new wound in its place, the healing process can be better controlled when an excision is performed.

Doctors may suture the new wound, so that the scar that forms afterwards is much smaller in comparison to the apparent cystic acne scar that was in the area. Additionally, a skin graft can be placed on top of the new wound to give the appearance of smooth skin.

When cystic back acne results in hypertrophic scarring (scars that are above the level of the skin’s surface), dermatologists may use microdermabrasion or dermabrasion to treat the back acne scars. These procedures employ exfoliating materials to scrub away the scar tissue and make the blemish even with the surrounding tissue. This can be painful to varying degrees for some individuals.

For moderate scarring, individuals can try a cream that will help make the scar tissue more elastic and less apparent by evening out the texture and color of the back acne scar. Many at home remedies may also work, although they are unlikely to work to treat severe cystic acne scars.
