Jojoba and Argan Oils

The Powerful Anti-Acne Oils

Jojoba and argan oils are effective natural acne treatments for mild to moderate acne. Argan oil is effective because it contains healthy components that improves skin condition, while jojoba oil can help replace sebum (skin oils) with a substance that discourages the over-production of oils. Both oils are plant-derived; jojoba oil comes from the seed of the jojoba tree and argan oil comes from the kernel or nut of the argan plant.

Jojoba oil and argan oil are found in many cosmetic products because they are natural and non-comedogenic. They aren’t likely to cause clogged pores or cause the development of acne. To be effective, natural acne treatments must reduce oils, help shed skin cells, or kill off the p. acnes bacteria that are responsible for advanced acne. These two wonder-treatments are naturally packed with germ fighting and oil reducing qualities.

Jojoba Oil: Natural Acne Treatment

Jojoba oil can trick the body into thinking it has already produced enough oil, therefore minimizing the amount of sebum that can clog pores. As a natural acne treatment, it is effective at tricking the glands because it is very similar to sebum when viewed under a microscope. Since oil production can be a big problem for acne sufferers, jojoba oil’s ability to reduce sebum production is an effective way to attack one of the core causes for acne breakouts.

Jojoba oil is absorbed slowly, so it can be used as a replacement for acne moisturizers you may be using. If the skin feels too oily, you may need to reduce the amount of jojoba oil you apply. It only takes a small amount of oil to do the job. It isn’t likely to cause breakouts, but it only addresses one component of acne development. Consider using jojoba oil with other natural acne treatments that exfoliate skin cells and minimize bacteria.

Argan Oil: Natural Acne Treatment

Naturally, argan oil contains vitamin E – an essential nutrient for sin health. It can help during healing and reduce scarring caused by acne. It can also prevent significant cell damage because it contains phenol acids and carotenes that act as an antioxidant. (Antioxidants prevent damage from free radicals in the skin.) By balancing the natural moisture of skin, it may help reduce the over production of skin oils, as well.

To use argan oil as a natural acne treatment, just apply the oil following daily cleansing of the skin. It can be used up to two times daily. As with jojoba oil, argan oil can work well in very small amounts. So if skin feels too greasy or oily, reduce the amount of oil being used. In general, argan oil is absorbed well by the skin so it should not leave a residue.

All natural acne treatments take time to work, so be sure to allow your skin enough time to adjust to new treatment before changing methods. If skin becomes irritated, it may be best to stop using a natural treatment and allow a few days of recovery time before trying something different.
